They approached Lord Shiva and asked him if there was anything else for them to learn and to teach it to them.

Lord Shiva took the form of Gnana Guru or Dakshinamurthi, sat under a tree in silence, held the Chin Mudra and thus demonstrated to them that they should meditate.

Similarly, one devotee had several questions on spirituality and was eager to get answers to all of them. He asked Bangaru Adigalar Amma about them.

Adigalar Amma told the devotee, “Son! Start cultivating the habit of sitting in meditation. I will reveal the answers to you from within you!”.

What can we learn from this? Shastras help us only to a certain extent. If we want answers beyond what they tell us, meditation is the way.

Meditation, space and surreal

There are two Tamil mantras: “Om Mona OLi kaatuvai Potri Om”; “Om Mona Sugaththai AruLvai Potri Om”. These respectively mean that in meditation, “You will show us the light in silence” and “You will bless us with the bliss of silence”.
