Guru Bangaru Adigalar resides in Melmaruvathur and is regarded as the incarnation or Avatharam of Adhiparasakthi. Devotees believe that Adhiparasakthi speaks through him in Arulvakku or oracles. Hence he is also affectionately called as Melmaruvathur Amma.

In one Arulvakku, Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi said that 21 Siddhars, and among them several women, attained Jeeva Samadhi in the premises of today's Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Temple. Jeeva Samadhi is when a person, a Siddhar, consciously chooses to leave the body without physically harming it. Hence the Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Temple is also called the Siddhar Peedam Melmaruvathur or Adhiparasakthi Siddhar peedam Melmaruvathur. Visitors can see 21 Jeeva Samadhi markers in the Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Temple premises.

In one Arrulvaku, Amma said that Adhiparasakthi Temple Melmaruvathur has a high traffic of Siddhars who may appear as a man, woman or child of any age to visitors and especially on special festival days like the Full Moon Festival in Chithirai, the first month in the Tamil calendar. Devotees have given accounts of such encounters.

Befitting its name, Siddhar Peedam Melmaruvathur has a renowned Siddha Hospital and Research Center that provides consultation and treatment of ailments as per the Siddha Medicine practices. Moreover, it also helps provide consultation and the medicines that Melmaruvathur Amma suggests to devotees in Arulvakku.

In addition, Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peedam Melmaruvathur is nestled at the foothills of Achiruppakam which is an ecological site for medicinal plants and trees.
